You were good at the work. Good enough that they made you responsible for other people doing the work. Nobody rewired you for the switch.
So you do what you’re good at. You do the work, and you check everyone else’s version of it against how you’d have done it. It feels like leadership. It’s actually the opposite, and the tell is that the operation can only ever move as fast as you personally can move through it.
The Emerging Leader Lab is about the least natural switch in a career: the move from being the person who does the thing to being the person who builds the people who do the thing. Every instinct that made you good at the work argues against it. This lab gives you nine specific moves for the moments where that switch actually happens, plus an AI coach that plays the senior hire who does it differently than you, the person you keep rescuing, and the direct report you’re about to send into a room without you.
The three parts
Stop being the bottleneck. The grip that built the thing is the grip that caps it. Where a tight hand is right, where it’s just habit, and how to become less necessary on purpose.
Wear the right hat. Developing people isn’t one skill. Manager, trainer, coach, mentor, and two others are different jobs. Know which one a person needs right now instead of defaulting to the one that feels safe.
Build judgment, protect the person. Build someone until they can decide without you, then protect the conditions that let them actually do it, because the best decision-maker alive is useless at hour thirty-six.
How it works
Nine topics, about three minutes each. Read the topic, do the rep with your real team, and run one move with the Coach at the end of each lesson. Not a framework. One move at a time.
The certificate
It comes from a short application quiz. Scenarios in, moves out. It says you know the moves. Whether you use them on Monday is between you and your team.
