The Search and Rescue (SAR) – Intermediate course builds on basic search and rescue knowledge by exploring how organized SAR operations work in the field.

You’ll learn about the people, resources, equipment, and search techniques used during SAR responses, including how resources are requested, personnel are organized, and operations are managed and documented.

The course also introduces SAR training standards, search management, and demobilization, including the difficult decisions involved in determining when a search should end.

Finally, you’ll work through realistic SAR scenarios that bring these concepts together and demonstrate how an organized response progresses from the initial call through the conclusion of the search.

By the end, you’ll have a stronger understanding of your role within a coordinated SAR operation.
